God moving in Peru!

by | Sep 28, 2015 | Missions Articles

For many years, Nancy and Ronald have had a heart to bring worship, healing and freedom to the nations through creating spiritual families and communities among those who have been outcast and rejected by society. They are dedicated to seeing leaders from the slum being raised up to disciple and lead their families and communities.

Ronald grew up in Peru’s capitol city of Lima and Nancy was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and has lived in Lima since 2011. In 2013, Ronald and Nancy were married and began leading ¨Oikos Pacifico,¨ a ministry revolving around discipleship developing missional communities in a Lima slum. On May 2, 2015, Ronald and Nancy welcomed their beautiful daughter, Arielle Ruah into their family.

¨Our work has {and will be} a process that takes years, but have begun to see leaders being raised up among the youth. We have seen our youth praying and prophesying over their friends, neighbors and leaders. They are inviting their friends and neighbors to come to weekly meetings and hear about Jesus. We truly believe that they will one day be the leaders of their missional communities in the slums and in other parts of Peru and the world.¨

¨God has given us {and all of His children} the incredible privilege of seeing His perspective in a hurting world. So many times, we have asked him what he wants to do in a situation and have been given the opportunity to partner with him in bringing words of knowledge and prophecy as well as well as physical, spiritual and emotional healing to people we meet in the streets, supermarkets or our neighborhood.

One of those instances happened not too long ago as Ronald was on his way back from running errands.

Effrain, happened to be the motor-taxi driver who was bringing him back home. As Ronald began to talk with Effrain, the conversation turned toward spiritual things. Ronald learned that Effrain was a Jehovah’s Witness. He also learned {through a word of knowledge from the Lord} that Effrain suffered from hernias. In addition to the hernias, he also suffered from a physical condition that left one leg shorter than the other. He had been told by other Jehovah Witnesses that God does not heal. As they approached the house, Ronald asked if he could pray for Effrain.   As they were seeking healing for Effrain’s legs, God healed not only his legs but also the hernia that had caused him pain for so long. Our God heals and saves!

Why is it Important to be Resilient?

The facts are only sometimes representative of reality, and there’s more to the story than we see. It’s powerful when we tune in to that compass bearing, look to God to help us create a complete picture of reality, and not just say, “Truth is whatever my sense is, but Lord, tell me the facts and the greater vantage point.”

Navigating the Pain of Change and Disappointment

That was the order we were given within minutes of discovering our residencies had been denied renewal. The city hall official was not hostile or aggressive, simply delivering orders. I responded that we would “absolutely not be leaving in thirty days.” She mentioned they would send a police officer to our door if we did not comply. I told her she could send the king; I still would not leave after thirty days. That was impossible!
