Lost sheep in the Ukraine

by | Jul 15, 2016 | Missions Articles

How far would you go to reach one lost sheep? Jesus said he would leave the ninety nine righteous and go after the one that is lost. Its not that the ninety nine are not important to him, its just that they are already in green pastures and are safe. I believe that one interpretation of this parable of Jesus is that the ninety nine righteous represent the Gentile believers who are already in his body and know their Messiah. The one lost and wandering sheep represent what Jesus calls the lost sheep of the house of Israel. He is talking about the Jews who are Gods covenant people and yet do not yet know their God or Messiah. There is nothing he will not do to reach them with the good news that their Messiah has already come. Therefore there is nothing I will not do to partner with him in his mission. Few are willing, so I simply said, here I am, send me… and he took me at my word.

I have spent the past 31 years going anywhere and everywhere, now 24 countries to tell his lost sheep of his love, whether Jew or Gentile.. The last 6 months he has taken me twice to the Ukraine and I know soon I will go again. I recently spoke at some Purim Messianic festivals in Odessa, Khmelnistky and Nikolaev and then on my last trip I also spoke in Kiev. These were mostly Jewish audiences though of course not exclusively Jewish. Many heard for the first time that their Messiah has already come and that he loves them with an undying love and that in him they can have eternal life and a hope that never fades away, stored up in heaven …  I am ministering to my people in the same country where hundreds of thousands of Jews have been slaughtered in cold blood just for being Jews. Not only in the holocaust but in the last five centuries where Jewish blood cries out from the ground, the words of the prophet Ezekiel are being fulfilled today before my eyes.

Ezekiel was in a valley of dry bones and I was literally in one valley of dry bones in a huge park shape like a valley in Kiev where over 80 000 Jews were murdered in cold blood by the Nazis in three days. In Ezekiel 37: 3 – 5 God said to Ezekiel, And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live? So I answered, “ O Lord God, “ You know”. Again He said to me, “ Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “ Surely I will cause breath to enter into you and you shall live. There is no other possible interpretation of this scripture except the promise of the Holy Spirit coming into his Jewish people, his “breath” always refers to the Holy Spirit. How else can the Holy Spirit come into a heart and life except by accepting their Messiah and receiving his forgiveness and the Holy Spirit coming into their heart thus fulfilling this prophecy, “ I will cause breath to enter into you and you shall live”.

In the same nation where thousands have been murdered often by professing Christians they are now receiving their Messiah. Almost two hundred people, many of them Jews, have received their Messiah though my ministry there over the last 6 months, many are holocaust survivors and have waited 70 years to hear this message of eternal hope. Will you partner with me by praying and supporting my ministry financially as I go to my people in the Ukraine, the USA, Israel, Argentina, South Africa and beyond. Maybe you don’t know how to lead a Jewish person to their Messiah, but it is my calling and I have dedicated my whole life to this mission, I would be grateful if you would pray for me and support me financially to fulfill this mandate, many souls in heaven will thank you one day for paying my way so I can go and tell them the good news…

Why is it Important to be Resilient?

The facts are only sometimes representative of reality, and there’s more to the story than we see. It’s powerful when we tune in to that compass bearing, look to God to help us create a complete picture of reality, and not just say, “Truth is whatever my sense is, but Lord, tell me the facts and the greater vantage point.”

Navigating the Pain of Change and Disappointment

That was the order we were given within minutes of discovering our residencies had been denied renewal. The city hall official was not hostile or aggressive, simply delivering orders. I responded that we would “absolutely not be leaving in thirty days.” She mentioned they would send a police officer to our door if we did not comply. I told her she could send the king; I still would not leave after thirty days. That was impossible!
