Zoe’s House Adoption Agency

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, we are in the throws of launching another adoption agency, this time better fortified and better advised.  Here is a little of the backstory for those who’d like the inside scoop.

A few months ago, I was approached by someone who had heard Kelsey and I speak about adoption several years ago.  The things we had said regarding adoption and abortion struck their heart.  They had gone on to adopt since then and were interested in doing more.

After a long phone conversation, they invited me to come to their city to talk more.  While I was there, they asked if I would consider relaunching an adoption agency with their help.   I was particularly encouraged by their pro life commitment.  Many people see adoption through a warm, fuzzy lens but don’t understand the prophetic implications of taking a stand for life.  These people ‘get it’.

As excited as I was, I wanted to make sure that it was a God idea, not just a good idea. I promised to go home and pray about it.

A few days later, I had a dream that I shared in a previous blog.  While we would never base a decision like this only on a dream, the dream served to confirm what we were feeling as well as what our close advisors were telling us – that God wanted us to continue to carry this message and practice of adoption.

The legal pieces have been put in place and we are now talking about a lease on a specific building here in Kansas City.  I have recruited an amazing staff – some of who have served with me for years.  Our license is being prepared and will be submitted once the office is up and running.

Zoe’s House Adoption Agency will be up and running in Kansas City in a few months….and that’s not all.

We’re looking to expand.  Our team has vision for multiple cities and some sort of program allowing people to serve as our extensions.  We want your church and family to play a key part in an adoption service built with affordability and birth mother compassion at it’s center.  We can do adoptions, or we can change the culture of a nation in regards to it’s view of and value for the unborn.  Let’s do it all.

Why is it Important to be Resilient?

The facts are only sometimes representative of reality, and there’s more to the story than we see. It’s powerful when we tune in to that compass bearing, look to God to help us create a complete picture of reality, and not just say, “Truth is whatever my sense is, but Lord, tell me the facts and the greater vantage point.”

Navigating the Pain of Change and Disappointment

That was the order we were given within minutes of discovering our residencies had been denied renewal. The city hall official was not hostile or aggressive, simply delivering orders. I responded that we would “absolutely not be leaving in thirty days.” She mentioned they would send a police officer to our door if we did not comply. I told her she could send the king; I still would not leave after thirty days. That was impossible!
