A wee history of Kadie…

Originally from the land of corn and basketball (Indiana), I grew up with a rich heritage of preachers and teachers! From a young age, I fell in love with the Lord and decided I would want to share His love with everyone around me. That love has led me to many places around the world, but my hub remains in Newry, Northern Ireland working with Youth With A Mission and pioneering Fringe Coffee Co.

After years of leading Arts and Media Discipleship Training Schools, working in admin and personnel, and planning and running local outreaches and events,  I have moved to Newry to pioneer a new ministry team. We have a heart to see people transformed by the love of Jesus, both locally and globally, by opening a café and arts and media training center in the heart of town…

YWAM Newry // Fringe Coffee Co.

They shall build up the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former devastations; they shall repair the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations. Strangers shall stand and tend your flocks; foreigners shall be your plowmen and vinedressers; but you shall be called priests of the Lord; they shall speak of you as the ministers of our God; you shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their glory you shall boast. Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy.  // Isaiah 61: 4-7

While YWAM Newry was initially formed in the throws of the pandemic in 2020, it had been stirring in our hearts long before that… The heart of YWAM Newry is to bring creativity, restoration, and community to the people of this war-torn bordertown. We aim to do this through a variety of ways, but our first big initiative is Fringe Coffee Co.:

“Our vision is to develop our own locally roasted coffee that can be sold both online and at local locations. Ultimately, our goal is to eventually expand into a mobilised coffee truck and also a physical building, with the addition of an arts & media centre. Fringe Coffee Co. would serve as a community coffee shop that funds sustainable living schemes in strategic locations around the world [starting with the Imbizo Foundation in South Africa], while the arts & media centre would facilitate training programs and creative projects within a missional context.”

You can read more about our values and how this plays out within the context of Fringe Coffee Co. below:

Fringe Coffee Co. // South Africa 2023

Fringe was birthed out of a desire to bring people who feel on the edges of society to a place of connection, community, and restoration through creativity and hope. Through the continued development of our roasts and products to planning and hosting empowering community events, we’ve grown much in the past year. With that, we want to remain true to our focus of not only impacting the local community, but our global one by planning a team trip to South Africa to meet with our partners at the Imbizo Foundation this April 2023!

Historically, as YWAM Ireland, we have been a part of impacting youth in South Africa through our sponsor trainee program as well as sending teams to support local missionaries in Durban, South Africa for over a decade. While we haven’t been able to return to the nation as a mission since 2019, this will be the first trip back in 4 years, much to the gratitude and joy of our ministry partners.

The goal of this trip is three-fold: (1) To come alongside and support the long-term work of the Imbizo Foundation (2) Reconnect with and encourage our past Sponsor Trainees (3) Dream, pray, and put into action future coffee endeavors that could serve to empower local communities while impacting a global industry.

Dates: 18 April – 9 May

Total Cost (covers transport, accommodation, food, ministry costs, etc): $2,000

Current Total Needed: $1,088

If you feel impressed to donate towards these needs, please click the giving links below (or use PayPal here). I am thrilled to see what God will do with these short three weeks! Thank you for sowing into the vision God has given us as Fringe Coffee Co. and YWAM Newry.
