We are Luke, Stephanie, Sam, and Evie Joyce. God saw fit to meet us in Honduras in June of 2016 while on a short-term trip there, and we have been compelled to move there in August 2017 to teach at Abundant Life Christian Schools and volunteer at Clinica Medica San Lucas, both in the town of Gracias. We are thrilled to be able to share this journey with you. We’d be grateful to have you follow our blog at themostofthese.com.
The souls of this world need saving, and only God can do that. But the crazy thing is that he uses us (all of us) to carry out his plans, because the way he works is so incredible that he wants to share it with us. We have caught a glimpse of it, and we want more of it, and we want to share it with you.
And God wants even more than our souls. He wants to redeem cities and nations and give hope to all generations, and he desires to have his people in all places at all times in order to do so. This isn’t limited to people in a distant land. This includes you, wherever you are.
For our part, we hope to see sustainable, generational impact for the kingdom of God as we devote our time and energy to helping to provide quality education and medical care. And while we may do some good, we fully expect that we will be blessed by those we serve far beyond any measure of impact we may bring them.
In Matthew 25:40, Jesus tells us that: “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” We are all “the least of these,” and when we help one another in this life, God begins to reveal his true character to us. The character of desire that turns complacency into action. The character of faith that that turns hopelessness into expectancy. And the character of redemption that turns sorrow into joy. Oh, and there is so, so much more to him.
This is the God we serve. To him be the glory.
