Jesus is Setting the Captives Free!

by | Mar 21, 2017 | Missions Articles

Over the week of the Super Bowl, we had the privilege of attending the Justice Rally in Houston, Texas to help lead outreaches with Elijah Rising (from Houston) and Exodus Cry (from Kansas City) to cantinas, Asian spas, strip clubs, on the streets, and online as we reached out to men purchasing women and women who were being sold online with the love of Jesus.

Wesley talked with a girl (with Alison present) who literally said she was “a nervous wreck” and wanted out of the sex industry. He was able to pray with her and connect her with “Rescue Houston” (who was in the room with us) and they took over in assisting the girl to leave the sex industry.

Alison talked with a man who had responded to an online ad and she was able to lead him to Christ through an almost hour-long conversation. He chose Jesus and he chose freedom. She connected him with “Free Indeed” (who was in the room with us) to provide him with ongoing discipleship.

In addition, there was a prayer room that offered corporate worship and prayer for 12 hrs a day each day of the four day rally. And the very next day, on February 5th, 750 arrests were made and 95 girls were rescued there. Praise God! He’s setting the captives free in Houston, Texas and all over the world! Prayer is so powerful. That partnership with Jesus…there’s just nothing else like it.

Why is it Important to be Resilient?

The facts are only sometimes representative of reality, and there’s more to the story than we see. It’s powerful when we tune in to that compass bearing, look to God to help us create a complete picture of reality, and not just say, “Truth is whatever my sense is, but Lord, tell me the facts and the greater vantage point.”

That was the order we were given within minutes of discovering our residencies had been denied renewal. The city hall official was not hostile or aggressive, simply delivering orders. I responded that we would “absolutely not be leaving in thirty days.” She mentioned they would send a police officer to our door if we did not comply. I told her she could send the king; I still would not leave after thirty days. That was impossible!
