About 25 years ago, God called Amy to teach. Initially she questioned if she had heard God correctly. Teaching was far from her comfort zone. However, God would confirm in many ways that this is what He had in store for her.
She started with her own children, homeschooling them for several years. From there she got involved teaching at homeschool co-ops, then she progressed to an international school in Chiang Rai, Thailand, where she and her family lived for six years. This would lead to more opportunities to teach in North Carolina and more recently in Texas. God knew teaching would spark joy in Amy’s life.
Discipling through education is a wonderful way to help young people know God. Currently, Amy is teaching high school literature at Christian Heritage School in Tyler, Texas. CHS is a Principle Approach school as well as a YWAM ministry. All the teachers at CHS serve voluntarily, trusting God with the financial support they need to live on.
Amy has been married to Richard for 36 years, and together they have 4 children. All are grown and moved out of the house now. Empty nesting with her best friend, Richard, is fun though. They love to visit historic towns, thrift shop, play games, and watch intriguing movies.
Amy loves to remind people that “Christ is mighty in you!” Her love for Jesus and His Word is the foundation for her life whether in the classroom or around her dining room table.
