Hi Friends and Family!
As most of you know, I graduated from Oral Roberts University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication. From fall 2026 through spring 2027, I have the privilege of serving as an intern with Open Door Ministries through its 8-month Nehemiah Leadership Initiative Gap Year Fellowship Program.
Open Door started in urban Denver in 1997 and has a mission to address poverty, build communities, and cultivate followers of Christ in Denver. They do this by providing transitional housing, youth programs, leadership development, and outreach programs.
I will be serving in two areas: nonprofit management and the Youth Center. I will work in the ODM office alongside the Executive Team, gaining experience in administration, grant writing, fundraising, volunteer management, ministry and project oversight, event planning, statistics, and more. I will also receive hands-on ministry experience in the Youth Center, working with the urban youth program serving 6th–12th grade students. This includes spending time with kids, day trips, one-on-one discipleship, food shopping and prep, overnight camps, relationship building, leading various youth activities and outreaches, and learning about an established youth ministry.
I will receive hands-on ministry experience, intentional discipleship, leadership development, biblical justice education, and community living opportunities.
As I step into this new role, I would love for you to partner with me through financial support and prayer. Although Open Door pays a portion of my salary, I am also raising additional funds throughout these 8 months to help make this season of ministry financially sustainable. I am prayerfully looking for people who will come alongside me as I serve in Denver, Colorado. Thank you so much for your encouragement, prayers, and support as I begin this new journey! 🤍
I would love to connect with you! If you have any questions, would like to hear more about what I’ll be doing, or would simply like to stay connected throughout my time in Denver, please feel free to reach out to me at AshtynIser@gmail.com
