Hey Family and Friends!
My name is Brooke Bates, and my heart burns to see people all over the world encounter the tangible love and hope of Jesus Christ! I long for young people to know that the same living God who transformed my life is available to them too.
What God did!
I grew up in a Christian home, but for many years, I didn’t truly walk in a personal relationship with the Lord. I knew about God but I didn’t know Him.
In college, I struggled deeply with comparison and feeling like I wasn’t enough. I tried to perform my way into worthiness, only to end up emptier each time. Eventually, I reached a breaking point and realized there had to be more , and that “more” was found in an intimate relationship with Jesus.
During my sophomore year, I surrendered my life to Him, and everything changed. I discovered that walking with Jesus means walking in the fullness of life! I was truly transformed from the inside out.
As I grew in my faith, I began to see the deep need for Jesus on my college campus. During my last semester at Spelman College, a friend and I started a Bible study for students in the Atlanta University Center. Week after week, it grew from a handful of students to over 100, eventually outgrowing our space!
Today, that same Bible study has reached more than 600 students across the Atlanta University Center and surrounding campuses. Watching God move so powerfully in this generation has stirred my heart to continue saying “yes” to what He’s doing around the world.
What God is doing!
After graduating from Spelman, I stepped into full-time missions with Circuit Riders and the Black Voices Movement.
Black Voices Movement exists to reach and empower Black Gen Z with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We gather, train, and create music and media to activate the next generation of Black leaders. Students from HBCUs are being equipped and sent out to live on mission for Jesus, whether that’s leading a campus Bible study or stepping into careers as teachers, counselors, barbers, entrepreneurs, doctors, and more.
Our heart is to see a generation rise up confident in their God-given purpose, fully alive in Christ and carrying His love wherever they go.
It has been such a gift to walk in the calling God has placed on my life and to witness young people encountering His presence and truth firsthand.
