We have recently made a transition out of our thirty+ years with Youth With A Mission (YWAM). Those years were divided up into initially serving in Australia where we worked with Discipleship Training Schools and led evangelistic teams into Asia. God then called our family to Central India for 7 years where we pioneered a YWAM center focused on discipleship and evangelism. An international move to Texas, USA, allowed Carl to staff and to teach in YWAM’s School of the Bible. Kylie taught the international adult students about God’s intention for families in YWAM’s Teachers for the Nations training program. Carl was ordained with Ecclesia Bible College, Arkansas, in 2008.
As we prayerfully navigate this transition, our current roles have changed. While Carl walks through a ‘season of waiting’ on guidance from the Lord regarding his next steps, he’s undertaking a temporary leave of absence from ministry. He has begun meeting with a Spiritual Director and others as part of him seeking counsel during this season. His missional heart is passionate for building God’s kingdom and helping others to do the same.
Kylie remains involved in ministry. She is currently teaching (part-time) at a Christian education program newly launched by our local church. She is also training in a two-year program to become certified as a Spiritual Director. Her heart is to companion with others on their spiritual journeys to offer compassionate listening, care, and Christ-centered guidance as people navigate spiritual dryness, distressing seasons, or overwhelm. Helping others focus on their relationship with God and their intimacy with Jesus as she ministers the love and presence of Christ to them reflects her heart to join with the Lord’s purposes in others’ lives, work, or ministry.
