Hi everyone,
My name is Colin. I have been serving in the mission field for nearly three years with Lifehouse International Church, helping to launch their campus in Seoul.
Although I had previously participated in various short-term missions trips and originally planned to serve for just one year, God has faithfully provided, opening the door for me to continue in this role. Over time, He has given me a deeper heart and vision for long-term ministry. I hope to continue serving on the leadership team at Lifehouse Seoul for as long as I am able.
Before moving to Korea, I spent the past few years studying, serving, and interning at Church of the Highlands. I am a Highlands College alumnus, having studied in Birmingham for two years with a focus on Worship Leading. I also completed a year-long internship with Highlands at their Grandview Campus. Those years were some of the most impactful, and also some of the most challenging, of my life. One of my graduation requirements was to complete a cross-cultural missions trip. I had planned to go to Japan to serve at Lifehouse International Church, but in March 2020, the coronavirus pandemic shut the world down. I finished my semester requirements and graduated that May, but I struggled with the cancellation of a trip I truly felt God had called me to. Although the trip was canceled, I was able to build a relationship with some of the team at Lifehouse. Around that same time, I learned they were launching their first campus in South Korea.
Over the next year, I felt increasingly drawn to that campus. As restrictions began to lift, I decided to visit. Before going, I took twenty-one days to pray, fast and seek God for direction.
During that time, He gave me a vision of a lighthouse on the shore. As the body of Christ, we are called to be light-bearers, to build lighthouses that shine in the darkness and guide others safely to the Father. It is His light that shines through us.
God revealed that vision to me during those twenty-one days, and now, three years into this journey, I’m so thankful to say that Lifehouse Seoul has truly been a lighthouse in a dark place. What started as a short trip has turned into long term ministry where I plan to live and serve here in Korea for as long as God allows.
