In 2021, God instilled a calling in our hearts that had been building for multiple decades – to care for orphans. Not as a plan B to starting a family, but by an obedient plan A, we embarked on a three-year journey to adopt our daughter through international adoption. It was an act of faith as she has life-long, life-threatening medical needs. It became clear that our call to adoption was just the beginning of our call to serve South Asia – that we were meant to devote our lives to ministry there, and we started preparing for what that might look like one day.
Now 1.5 years after our daughter has been home in our arms, God has said that the time is now for our ministry to begin. While our daughter was living in South Asia, she lived in a non-profit, Christian children’s home dedicated to providing wholistic, family-oriented care for the most medically fragile children. It was a comfort knowing that she was in loving arms, which is a stark contrast to typical government run orphanages where neglect and abuse are common. A year into pursuing her adoption, we found out that the founders of this organization lived in our city here in America – only something that God could have orchestrated. She is alive because of this ministry, and our family is living proof of the fruit of their legacy. Now, through the grace and guidance of God, we are working a full-time position to serve her prior children’s home. Our prayer is that we can be used to bring forth growth and continue their legacy, in an effort to allow even more children to come through their doors. Our roles look like advocacy, public speaking, admin, fundraising, running socials, planning, budgeting, and travel to South Asia to serve their children. We feel that our personal story and history with them helps to enable us to represent them genuinely.
God is on the move in this beautiful nation that we love deeply, and we are grateful and humbled for the chance to be a part of it. The call is deafening and we are eager to respond. The church is not called to live lives of comfort, but to be willing to do hard things for Jesus and go to the darkest places on earth. Our desire is that the gospel would reach every home and that every child would know their worth in Christ. We have seen all that God can do with a simple “yes” and the impact that can ripple for generations. Thank you for your consideration in partnering with us to care for orphans.
