About Me
Hello! In this next season of my life, I will be serving as the Ignite Intern at Appalachian State. In this season, I will be spending my time laboring for the ministry, assisting with and facilitating the setup of our large group meetings, and planning. I will also mentor and disciple new students and those who want to grow in their faith. The most important part of my role in this ministry is evangelizing to everyone on campus and being a “fisher of men.” Evangelism is vital for spreading the gospel, and this internship provides me with the perfect opportunity to bring others in the App State community to know Christ Jesus. Prayer is vital during this season; I am going to be dedicating hours a week to prayer.
It would be easy to say I am just Eli Lyons, a recent college graduate from Appalachian State University, and that these are my only identifiers. While true, my identity is rooted deep within my faith in Jesus Christ. My identity is as a Christian, meaning a follower or a disciple of Christ. My faithfulness to the Lord, as with all who have truly accepted Him and repented, is ongoing, as I continue my walk of sanctification in this life. For it is not by faith alone that I walk. Through my faithfulness to Christ, as well as to the adherence of the Church Fathers, I seek to do the works that the good Lord has appointed me to do in earnest. I tend to think of Ephesians 2:10; we are His workmanship.
Because of my identity in Christ, I hope to help lead others beginning or currently living their college years to take part in something eternal and begin their walk with Christ. This is where my work as part of the Ignite Campus Movement comes into play. Initially, I was unsure of where I would be immediately after college. I was hearing multiple different ideas from people I trusted and who were close to me – my parents, my pastor, my friends, my family, and of course, myself. While I now hold a bachelor’s degree in geography, I knew that the Lord had called me to ministry in some capacity. It was then that I learned of the Ignite ministry internship through the campus director at the time. I was interested but unsure if it was what the Lord called me to do. So, I prayed for clarity and discernment, and through time in prayer, the Lord led me to the internship position I now hold. All Glory to Christ Jesus.

My ministry objectives will take priority during this season of my life; I will be dependent upon the gracious donations provided to me through Modern Day. My goal is to raise $2000 a month for housing, living expenses, and ministry support while I serve the community of Appalachian State.
