For the past seven years, we have had the privilege of living and serving full-time in Africa, and today we are honored to call South Africa home. Through our partnership with Hillsong Africa Foundation (HAF), local churches, schools, government agencies, and community organizations, we serve in Mitchell’s Plain and surrounding communities—coming alongside people who are facing difficult circumstances and reminding them that their story does not have to end where it began. We share the hope of Jesus while equipping local leaders, investing in children and youth, mentoring and discipleship, working with inmates and former inmates through restorative justice and reintegration, supporting small businesses, and teaching agricultural and vocational skills. At the heart of everything we do is relationship. We believe lasting change happens when people are known, valued, equipped, and given the opportunity to pursue a different future. God has used our years of ministry in the United States and Benin, West Africa, to prepare us for this season, and we are believing for lives, families, and communities to be transformed through the Gospel. When you pray, give, and stand with us, you become part of this mission—and together, we get to see hope take root and lives changed for generations to come.
Meet Aki – Aki is an incredible young man from Tafelsig, Mitchell’s Plain—an area deeply impacted by gang violence and crime. He joined our agricultural program in 2023 as a quiet and timid young boy, but over the past few years, we have watched him grow into a confident leader who is now helping lead multiple agricultural programs and bring positive change to his community.
Aki’s journey has not been easy. He nearly lost his life in a shooting incident, an experience that profoundly changed his perspective. Since then, he has come to recognize that his life has a purpose far greater than himself.
Today, Aki carries a renewed appreciation for life and a desire to live each day with purpose. He wants others to see that there is hope, that their circumstances do not have to define their future, and that God can be found and glorified in every part of our lives.
We are so excited to see how Aki will continue to flourish and how God will use his life to impact his friends, family, and the wider Mitchell’s Plain community.
