Joshua Jarvis serves as a missionary and humanitarian peace chaplain in Colombia, currently working throughout the northern and Caribbean coastal regions to train, equip, and commission leaders into some of the nation’s most violent and vulnerable communities. He is commissioned by Jesucristo Fuente and the CIMAA network and provides theological vision, leadership, and direction for The Way of the Lamb Ministries, a ministry dedicated to cultivating communities of prayer, discipleship, reconciliation, and mission shaped by the way of Jesus through radical forgiveness, non-violence, and self-giving love.
Joshua is an ordained minister, theologian, educator, Christian author, recording worship artist, and chaplain. He has taught Theology, Philosophy, English, and the Sociology of Music and holds a Master’s degree in Theology. He is currently pursuing further academic studies toward a PhD and a degree in Psychology, seeking to integrate theology, philosophy, and human development in the service of holistic healing.
Over the years, he has taught theology and philosophy in eleven nations and has served in houses of prayer and ministry initiatives around the world. His current work focuses on developing resources for discipleship, contemplative formation, and mission while laying the foundations for future ministry training and educational initiatives.
Joshua survived an extremely violent and traumatic upbringing marked by severe physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual abuse. As an infant, he survived an attempted killing by his maternal biological contributor, was later disowned by his adoptive guardians, and grew up surrounded by trauma and instability. As a young man, he entered a life of crime and violence, experiencing situations that included being stabbed, shot, and repeatedly facing death. Through a profound encounter with the love of God, his life was radically transformed, redirecting his story toward reconciliation and peace.
Because of this background, Joshua is able to enter environments many would consider unreachable. He works with gangs, guerrilla groups, cartels, mafia networks, and paramilitary structures, helping individuals and communities find pathways out of violence and into reconciliation, restoration, and peace. In Barranquilla, he is presently focused on training and commissioning leaders to serve in areas marked by gang violence, drugs, abandoned children, and vulnerable women, forming them to carry the way of the Lamb into those contexts.
Joshua also serves as Sargento Primero (Sergeant First Class) within the International Humanitarian Interfaith / Inter‑Religious Peace Chaplaincy of AMIC (Asociación Mesa Interreligiosa de Colombia). Through AMIC, he collaborates with civil institutions, community organisations, educational entities, and international partners in peacebuilding, reconciliation processes, and the defence of human dignity and fundamental rights.
Joshua is autistic, something he openly acknowledges as part of his life and calling. Rather than being a limitation, it has shaped how he listens deeply, sees patterns others miss, and approaches ministry with unusual focus and compassion for those who feel overlooked or misunderstood.
His theological journey has been shaped by historic Christian traditions. While serving as a Protestant missionary in Turkey, Joshua was catechised into Eastern Orthodox Christianity at Aya Fotini Rum Ortodoks Kilisesi under Metropolitan Bishop Bartholomew Samaras of Izmir and Smyrna, which deepened his engagement with the ancient Christian tradition.
Over the years, Joshua has partnered, served, or collaborated with a wide range of missions movements, houses of prayer, and organisations including YWAM (Youth With A Mission), ACTS, Fire & Fragrance, Samaritan’s Purse, Circuit Riders, The Send, Global Grace Seminary, CFNI (Christ For The Nations Institute), Pais Movement, Young Life, prison ministry initiatives, and the Upper Room in Dallas, among many others.
At the heart of Joshua’s calling is a simple conviction that every life can be transformed when it encounters Love, for God is Love. Through The Way of the Lamb Ministries and his work with Jesucristo Fuente, CIMAA, and AMIC, his ministry focuses on holistic restoration. The spiritual care, mediation, trauma‑informed pastoral support, and reconciliation in communities affected by violence and social fragmentation. He seeks to create spaces where forgiveness becomes possible, dignity is restored, and new life begins.
Joshua believes the way of Jesus is radical forgiveness, unconditional love without exception, non‑violence in a violent world, and a life poured out for others. It is the path of humility over pride, mercy over judgment, service over power, and self‑giving love over self‑preservation. It is a way that refuses hatred, refuses revenge, and refuses to abandon those the world has cast aside. For him, the way of Jesus is not merely believed. It is lived by loving enemies, lifting the broken, restoring dignity, and choosing compassion even when it costs everything.
