We (Michael and Sarah), along with our three kids, serve as the directors of Youth With A Mission Detroit in the heart of Detroit, Michigan. We began our journey into vocational missions in 2009 with YWAM and have served in various parts of the U.S. as well as stints overseas in Eastern Europe and Asia.
In Detroit, we have two primary focuses – discipleship, empowerment, and mobilization among the African-American community and evangelism to the more than 400,000 Muslims that call the Metro Detroit area home.
Our primary ministry center is situated in the middle of a predominantly Muslim neighborhood where 32 languages and over 30 nations are represented in a 2-square-mile radius. The Islamic call to prayer can be heard over loudspeakers 5 times a day in the neighborhood and every elected official in the small town is Muslim.
The vision of YWAM Detroit is to equip and disciple Detroiters from the city into their missional calling through training, evangelism, and serving.
