The Sanchez Family: Equipping Leaders for the Local Church in Latin America

We are Silvio and Suly Sanchez, and together with our two young daughters, Natalie and Katherine, we are answering the call to serve at ESEPA Seminary in San Jose, Costa Rica. Our family is relocating to invest our lives, time, and experience into equipping the next generation of pastoral leadership.

Healthy, thriving churches require well-trained leaders. While many pastors have a deep, genuine passion for the Gospel, they often lack access to formal theological education. ESEPA bridges this gap by providing rigorous, biblically sound instruction not only to Costa Rican leaders but also to students from across Latin America.

The only way ESEPA can offer this high-level training at highly accessible rates—and even provide full scholarships to many students—is through the missionary model. Because professors and academic staff are fully funded by ministry partners, the seminary does not have to pass those operational costs onto the students. In his role focusing on academic operations and faculty support, Silvio will help ensure these leaders receive the preparation they need to serve and plant churches in their home countries.

While Silvio focuses on the academic development of the students, our shared mission as a family is to build meaningful relationships, support the seminary community, and raise Natalie and Katherine in a cross-cultural environment where faith in action is our daily reality.
