We’re Kenny and Leeann Crabtree and we are Vagabonds for Christ. In 2019 God called us to be missionaries in East Africa. Our daughter had already been living in Africa and while visiting her, we saw the love of Jesus and the need for Biblical discipleship so strongly that it moved us here a year later. There are economic hardships, single parent households, orphaned or unwanted children everywhere. A whole generation of youth in Uganda are in danger of not knowing the Lord, not getting a basic education or basic necessities in life for a good start. We have sought to break the cycle and disciple and teach, educate and reach.
We work with and support our daughter Savhannah’s Poeima Ministry’s Child Sponsorship ministry, wearing whatever hat is needed.
We also have on going Bible studies, prayer groups and we also continue to minister to our children and families in Poeima, and our neighbourhoods. In September 2021 the Lord led us to open our family home bible study to our ministry families and neighbourhoods. God led us to call this refuge. We recently celebrated 1 year and currently are seeing over 100 attending weekly.
We continue to assist through a triage process for medical needs, transportation to clinics, dental office visit and lab work to help our kids fight Malaria, Typhoid, Hep B, HIV, as well as other illnesses on a case by case basis. We also do very minor first aid for our neighbourhood kiddos.
We also continue outreach to the families, legal guardians, extended family caregivers and single parents in our ministries with home visits.
We also do a weekly outreach together with Poeima Ministries to Nagombe across Lake Victoria from Entebbe. We visit schools and Leeann does worship and Savhannah teaches, we pray for the village needs and local church.
We love this new adventure God has given us, as we share His love, the love of Christ, to all we meet.
Our ministry maintains its original calling and vision to be a starfish ministry, much like the poem. We continue to scout our beach for starfish, there are many. With the Lord’s help we can make a big difference to this one and that one over there….
