Satanist Comes to Jesus

Wherever you are in the world, if you’re reading this right I’m really not sure what to say other than to ask you to pray. In the photo above, the man you see bowing his head to a God he once hated has lived a life of darkness beyond what most can imagine. The pentagram, 666 tattoos, cuts, and demonic markings all over his body show just a fraction of what his past looks like and to be honest with you, this moment took my breath away. I was shaken yet again with the convicting power of the Gospel and how it’s able to pierce right through even the most hardened heart.

With that said, when I first met this man, he was so far gone most would consider him a lost cause. He was doing time inside a jail cell in Upstate, South Carolina with a raging hatred towards the things of God and anything or anybody having to do with Him. My first few times meeting with him, to say that he didn’t like me too much would be an understatement. But, I’m here today to tell you that in prison, that piece of iron in between him and His Heavenly Father began to shatter little by little. Bound by chains behind prison walls he began to have encounters with God which eventually led to this satanist asking Jesus to forgive and save him!

I can’t give you details but this man was living in darkness to a point most can’t even begin to imagine. I would give you his name but for now, I simply want to ask you to pray. I spent time with him and his family and my heart broke. I don’t think most understand their capacity for evil until they wake up one day and realize they’re in another dimension far beyond where they ever thought they’d go as a child. This man has struggled with memories he can’t get out of his head, and if I told you he’s suffering with the feeling of unworthiness it wouldn’t even express the reality of how he’s felt. If you’re reading this I beg you, pray for him, his mom, and two children. I believe God is going to do something special here…we’ve just got to have the faith to ask Him to move mountains.

Why is it Important to be Resilient?

The facts are only sometimes representative of reality, and there’s more to the story than we see. It’s powerful when we tune in to that compass bearing, look to God to help us create a complete picture of reality, and not just say, “Truth is whatever my sense is, but Lord, tell me the facts and the greater vantage point.”

Navigating the Pain of Change and Disappointment

That was the order we were given within minutes of discovering our residencies had been denied renewal. The city hall official was not hostile or aggressive, simply delivering orders. I responded that we would “absolutely not be leaving in thirty days.” She mentioned they would send a police officer to our door if we did not comply. I told her she could send the king; I still would not leave after thirty days. That was impossible!
