We were in a meeting last night hearing stories about how God is performing all shades of miracles in countries like Borneo, Cambodia, Yemen and India. I’m talking about frontline, in your face, lay your life down (literally), sell your wedding ring kind of stuff! In America we are turning the corner in a beautiful way. We are putting the Great Commandment into practice in its purest of forms. I have personally never seen the emphasis put on daily devotion to God and authentically loving your neighbor like what I’m seeing now. Way to Go America (and I’m not just talking World Cup here)!! It is both refreshing and exciting to see the Gospel advance in such creative ways that only the Lord could have revealed. I’m blessed to live in this nation. Forgive me, I’m a glass totally full kind of guy. I know there are problems, but problems have solutions and that is what the Gospel is all about. Faith. Hope. Love. Perseverance!
Anyway… Back to the nations. And back to the Great Commission! In the most persecuted part of India, devoted native pastors were having a few days of good ol’ fashion tent meetings. Yep, right in the face of death and having his church burned down twice. This pastor was saying come one, come all to hear a story that will change your life forever. Many came and many got saved, baptized in the Holy Spirit and some received physical healing! After the meetings this Indian pastor was asked how much money it took to put on an event like this. He responded in a way that would move anyone. He said the event was a tremendous financial burden. He and his wife funded it themselves. “In the end, we had to sell off both of their wedding rings to cover the bill.” Obviously moved by this act of obedience and faith, the pastor was then asked how much did the event cost all together. His response, “Oh, about three hundred dollars.”
As we continue to deepen ourselves in the Great Commandment here in the States let’s continue to remember the world wide advancement of the Gospel and what our brothers and sisters in “unreached” nations could do with the assistance of our great wealth of resources. Believe me, I don’t want to get in the way of our Indian pastors sacrificial life to the Lord, but Come on, man! Keep your wedding rings, pastor, and lets raise $300 for this family so we can see the nation of India come to know their Savior!
For the Kingdom’s sake!
