GOD SEES INTO THE DARKNESS!!

by | Dec 18, 2017 | Missions Articles

Recently I had one of the most difficult conversations I can recall ever having. A very dear person to my wife and I, disclosed some personal things about her childhood that she had never revealed to anyone. This precious woman wept as she began to recount the horrors of unspeakable abuse perpetrated upon her for several years. When the abuse first occurred, she was around 9 or 10 years old. The older man who had repeatedly abused her, threatened her to keep the abuse secret. She felt trapped, ashamed, and terrified constantly. In vivid fashion our friend described how her heart cried out for help wondering if God could see and hear her. Having known this person closely for years, and learning about her painful past was incredibly heartbreaking. I was thankful that God was bringing it out to help her get deeper healing and freedom, but I cried realizing that such evil injustice was done to a young and helpless child. This hit very close to home for me, and made me wonder, how many other people has this happened to, and how many other children is this a current reality for?!

This emotional conversation really helped reinforce a burden of our ministry. Three years ago, my wife and I became full-time local missionaries, and started Prayer & Justice Ministries. Our heart has burned to see a revival of prayer in the body of Christ that releases the justice ministry of God. There might be a lot of thoughts about what God’s justice is, but I like to sum it up as the appropriation of everything that Jesus Christ accomplished through the cross. When sinners repent and receive the grace of God, this is true justice. When the sick are healed as we pray, this is true justice. When the oppressed and bound are set free, this is true justice. When works of darkness are exposed and destroyed, this is true justice. Thank God for the blood of Jesus Christ, and his heart for Justice!

As we have followed God’s call to pray for his Justice, we have seen just how serious God is about releasing it! A couple years ago, my wife became burdened with God’s heart for victims of human trafficking, locally and nationally. She and I began to pray for God to shine His light into the darkness of our region, expose evil, and set the oppressed free. Not long after praying into this burden, God began to give my wife dreams about specific locations locally and nationally that were operating in human trafficking. In one dream she saw a local business that was a front for running drugs, guns and human trafficking. Not long after this dream, my wife had a divine appointment with an FBI agent who worked specifically with a human trafficking taskforce.

In their meeting, my wife began to explain to the agent that because of Jesus, God answers our prayers and speaks to us through dreams. She proceeded to share the specific addresses and details from her dreams. The man was stunned at what he was hearing. He said, “How do you know this?” “We have just put this exact location from your dreams under secret surveillance and believe it may be the main flow of human trafficking in this region.” The man continued on and said “We have used psychics, but have never seen anything this accurate!” Stunned by the agent’s comments, my wife reiterated that Jesus had given her this information, because He is the light that shines in the darkness!

A few days after this meeting, there was a massive bust of this business by law enforcement! Administering justice is Kingdom business. Great systems of evil have been established to enslave the lives of God’s precious Children, but God sees those who are oppressed, and he cares deeply. I’m grateful for what Jesus accomplished at the cross for all the world. Because of his blood no darkness can keep out God’s light! At the dawning of a new year, we pray that Christ will shine upon you!

Why is it Important to be Resilient?

The facts are only sometimes representative of reality, and there’s more to the story than we see. It’s powerful when we tune in to that compass bearing, look to God to help us create a complete picture of reality, and not just say, “Truth is whatever my sense is, but Lord, tell me the facts and the greater vantage point.”

Navigating the Pain of Change and Disappointment

That was the order we were given within minutes of discovering our residencies had been denied renewal. The city hall official was not hostile or aggressive, simply delivering orders. I responded that we would “absolutely not be leaving in thirty days.” She mentioned they would send a police officer to our door if we did not comply. I told her she could send the king; I still would not leave after thirty days. That was impossible!
