Testimony by Merita Qelemeni

At our church, House Of Prayer, one of our more significant ministries is Visitation. Merita, Xheke (pr. Jaka), and sometimes, Vitore (similar to Victoria), and Flutera (means butterfly) quite often visit families in our area, as well as other areas that are mostly very poor, where there is much violence, alcohol, and drugs. Whatever you can imagine as the conditions, it is probably worse.

One of the most powerful recent visits was to a family where the husband drank a lot and was also violent toward his wife, Lina, beating her among other things. On their first visit Merita and Xheke were able to pray for Lina, that God would heal her wounded spirit and to receive Jesus as her savior! They also invited her to come to church. The husband would not allow her to attend church.

On their second visit, they were praying again when the husband came home drunk. The ladies were a little scared because they heard he was a violent man and a difficult person. Merita asked him if they could pray for him and he started to cry and said yes. When they finished praying for him he was calm. He has quit drinking, and now treats his wife with much more love and respect.

Another day Merita and Xheke returned to this family’s home to disciple Lina. The police came to the door, which isn’t usually a good thing, to speak to their son who is involved in some small business. The family was frightened. What could be the trouble!? Merita felt peace about the situation and told them not to worry God is in control. When the son returned home and found out he went directly to the police station. It turned out they wanted to ask him a question about his business from two years ago. Nothing to worry about!

After this Divine intervention in their lives Lina and her daughter want to come to church and her husband has given her permission. Praise God!!!!!

Why is it Important to be Resilient?

The facts are only sometimes representative of reality, and there’s more to the story than we see. It’s powerful when we tune in to that compass bearing, look to God to help us create a complete picture of reality, and not just say, “Truth is whatever my sense is, but Lord, tell me the facts and the greater vantage point.”

Navigating the Pain of Change and Disappointment

That was the order we were given within minutes of discovering our residencies had been denied renewal. The city hall official was not hostile or aggressive, simply delivering orders. I responded that we would “absolutely not be leaving in thirty days.” She mentioned they would send a police officer to our door if we did not comply. I told her she could send the king; I still would not leave after thirty days. That was impossible!
