We, along with our children (Joshua, Gracie, and Danielle) have been serving Jesus as missionaries with Youth With A Mission for over 25 years and in 9 countries. Our passion is to see the lost widows and orphans and teenagers back to the person of Jesus through hands on ministry, teaching, worship and the daily life of our family. Our hearts were first burdened for orphans and widows on a rice field in Nepal in 1999 as we cried out against the injustice of human trafficking. We had come to a village where all the young girls were gone. Back in America, not only is human trafficking a problem, but so also is unintended pregnancy. By age 45, more than half of all women will have experienced an unintended pregnancy, including 26 out of every 1000 teenage girls. Three in 10 women will also have had an abortion. In 2014 there were over 30,000 children in the foster care system in Texas, where we serve. As of January 2015 there were over 4000 children waiting for adoptive families. These are startling statistics! We are serving with a ministry called Living Alternatives that is providing an alternative to abortion and a source of hope to widows and orphans, including a maternity home, adoption agency, aftercare program, teen foster care girl discipleship, a traveling ultrasound bus, a pregnancy resource center, and a young family discipleship program including baby supplies and a fatherhood discipleship program.
We both have backgrounds of teaching degrees including specializations in Special Education (Brad) and Hearing Impaired (Heather). Heather is also currently a public school Art Teacher for Middle School. We also received training in Discipleship, Evangelism, and Biblical Studies before joining with the Living Alternatives ministry. Brad also received training in Worship Leading and Vision casting. We have served in many areas to communicate God’s love to the girls and teenagers including house parenting, foster care parenting, adoption, accounting, public relations promoting, and running a satellite public high school (2004-2014). Over the years we’ve also served periodically with teenager ministry (SST: Season of Service and Training) in the areas of teaching, worship leading, and service projects with a department of Youth With A Mission that seeks to reach, transform, and empower teens with a relationship with Jesus through short-term camps. Brad also served a full time season with SST from 2020-2024, before going back to serving full time with Living Alternatives.
