Hey there! I have been living in North Carolina for 2 years and recently graduated from Refuge Discipleship School. During my time in school, we partnered with Ignite, a campus ministry at University of North Carolina Charlotte. I attended Sunday night services and would evangelize on campus with the ministry weekly. After almost two years of partnering with Ignite, my heart began to burn for college campuses and I longed for the students on those campuses to be awakened to the reality of The Gospel. I had felt the Lord calling me to missions but I never knew it would be in my own city. For so long I had the belief that missions were only international and I was blind to the mission field that surrounded me. But I now have the opportunity to serve with Ignite and minister to the students on campus.
This fall, I will be interning with Ignite Movement at University of North Carolina, Charlotte. As an intern, I will be spending 4 days a week on campus working alongside the campus director and other students to cultivate and advance a healthy Gospel community through various community events, prayer meetings, evangelism, discipleship, and sharing the Gospel.
Why college campuses?
The Lord has placed a burden on my heart for my own generation and to see college campuses transformed by the reality of The Gospel.
It is estimated that only 4% of Gen Z has a biblical worldview while 36% percent claim Christianity. Around 70% of students who enter college in the faith, will leave college departed from their faith. During my time on campus, I encountered people who were searching for the truth but had no one to tell them. This generation longs to be seen, to be known, and to be loved. But are we taking the time to see, know and love this generation and display the love that Jesus has for them?
Gen Z is not a lost generation and there is a ripe harvest on these campuses.
The call to reach college campuses is not possible without generous support and prayer. My goal is to raise $1,200 monthly which will fund salary and missions. Thank you for supporting and partnering with me in seeing a generation set on fire for Jesus!
Romans 10:14-15 says, “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
