Grieving with Hope

by | Jul 2, 2014 | Missions Articles

I had a wonderful pastor who once preached a sermon about our lives being an adventure and not a journey, and I can certainly say that this month has been an adventure. When you are on a journey everything is planned out before you, so many things happened this month that definitely were not planned. However, in the difficult times I have drawn closer to my Papa, and I trust Him and His plans!

It is very difficult for me to type, but this month we lost JiMing and Rose (Both pictured). JiMing was a very special baby boy; I learned so much from him. Many nights I had the honor to care for him, which involved lots of cuddles and falling asleep on my shoulder. In order to care for him I had to learn how to tube feed him and accurately measure all his medicines and give them through his tube too. At first some of these things made me fearful, but just the look of his smile took all my fear away. He is definitely missed by so many of our staff. Rose was a bit older (eight years old) but has been here since the beginning. She suffered with cerebral palsy and seizures, which I know she is no longer in any pain and with our awesome Papa. It is such an honor to love these children, and they will both be missed. Please keep our staff in your prayers as we grieve with hope.

This month we learned another one of our children is being adopted!! I am so thankful that right now four of our children are in the process of having their forever families. This is definitely bitter sweet. One of my precious little ones who learned to read and write will have her forever family in just two weeks! I am so thankful they have forever families because I believe every child deserves the love of a mother and a father. We are honored and blessed to take care of them for a short time, but beyond happy to see them with forever families! Will you please keep praying for our children to be adopted, especially some of our children ones who will age out of adoption at 14.

What an adventure this month has been! I know some of you have asked how you can support me, and there are two ways. I need your prayers; I could not do any of this without prayer!! You can also support me financially through modern day by clicking here.

Why is it Important to be Resilient?

The facts are only sometimes representative of reality, and there’s more to the story than we see. It’s powerful when we tune in to that compass bearing, look to God to help us create a complete picture of reality, and not just say, “Truth is whatever my sense is, but Lord, tell me the facts and the greater vantage point.”

Navigating the Pain of Change and Disappointment

That was the order we were given within minutes of discovering our residencies had been denied renewal. The city hall official was not hostile or aggressive, simply delivering orders. I responded that we would “absolutely not be leaving in thirty days.” She mentioned they would send a police officer to our door if we did not comply. I told her she could send the king; I still would not leave after thirty days. That was impossible!
