A Moms Appreciation

I have said it before and it will continue to say it, you can touch the nations in one visit to any of the major train stations here in Brussels. You never know what language is going to be the mother tongue or where someone is traveling.

Because of this reality when we take teams out on the streets to pray for healings and salvations, those seeds can go a long way. This was exactly the case for a young man traveling throughout Belgium.

Our day had not gone as desired, people turning down prayer, we had prayed for many physical ailments and it seemed our prayers were going unheard. It was very frustrating to say the least. In my spirit I was asking God why He would have us out here for this if He were not going to respond.

As we were purchasing our tickets to go home on the train, I noticed a young man sitting down on the steps at Central Station in Brussels. His countenance was very down, he was wearing discouragement on his face like my sons wear the chocolate after consuming a pain au chocolate. I felt impressed that he was blocked and unable to go anywhere, as if he was stuck. I approached him and asked what was going on in his life because he appeared to be very frustrated. He confessed that he was robbed, passport, money, clothes, everything stolen. He had a ticket to go home but no documents to prove his nationality. His name is Ramiro and he is from Argentina. We found out he needed 20 euros to purchase a document that would provide him legitimate status to travel back into his country from Belgium. I am always hesitant to give strangers money, but I felt peace about this. We gave him the money and contact information to the church in case he needed anything else and then prayed a blessing over his life. I left that day still a little frustrated.

The following Tuesday, in our staff meeting at the church our administrator received an email from the mother of Ramiro. She was so touched by the encounter we had with her son. She was so very grateful for our obedience to give to a random stranger and because of this generosity her son was able to come home safely. I was so excited the whole day by the testimony of God’s faithfulness to this family in Argentina AND his faithfulness to me. Praise was on my lips all day! God is faithful to Argentinians in Europe!

Why is it Important to be Resilient?

The facts are only sometimes representative of reality, and there’s more to the story than we see. It’s powerful when we tune in to that compass bearing, look to God to help us create a complete picture of reality, and not just say, “Truth is whatever my sense is, but Lord, tell me the facts and the greater vantage point.”

Navigating the Pain of Change and Disappointment

That was the order we were given within minutes of discovering our residencies had been denied renewal. The city hall official was not hostile or aggressive, simply delivering orders. I responded that we would “absolutely not be leaving in thirty days.” She mentioned they would send a police officer to our door if we did not comply. I told her she could send the king; I still would not leave after thirty days. That was impossible!
