Europe is home to 51 total countries and a combined population of just over 600 million people. There are 1,920 people groups and 452 (23.5%) are unreached. The population in the unreached groups is around 25 million people. Professing Christians make up 71.3% of the population with 2.7% being Evangelical. Religious freedom in the former Communist world means the opportunity for Christians to practice their faith publicly and to enjoy fellowship and collaboration with their brethren from elsewhere in Europe and the world. It sees new expressions of Christian faith emerging in Central and Eastern Europe that engage the spiritual, social, relational and economic needs of many who feel lost in the vacuum of power and philosophy left by former Communist regimes.
